Brown spots: what are they?
Also called “age spots” or “sun spots”, brown spots are closely linked to UV exposure and aging of the epidermis.
Over time, the production of melanin concentrates on certain areas and forms clusters which materialize in the form of rounded pigment spots of varying darkness. Their size varies quite a bit, but their number tends to increase over the years.
They therefore appear mainly on the parts of the body most exposed to the sun: the hands, face, neck, neckline and shoulders.
